CoreWeave $75 put pays 35.7% annualized with a 17.5% cushion after its convertible sale
Our afternoon screen picks the CRWV Oct 30 $75 put: $2.715 at mid on $7,500 of cash, breakeven $72.29, with earnings (est. Nov 9) after expiry. The premium is big because the stock really moves this much.

The setup in 30 seconds
CoreWeave (CRWV) rents GPU computing to AI labs and big tech, mostly on long-term contracts. The stock is one of the most volatile names on Eddie's watchlist: it closed at $106.00 on Aug 17, fell to $79.88 on Sep 17, and traded at $87.62 at 1:33 PM ET today. On our screen, the October 30 $75 put is the best trade that passed every rule. It pays $2.715 at mid, about 35.7% annualized on the cash set aside, with a breakeven of $72.29. That is 17.5% below today's price.
What a cash-secured put is
You sell someone the right to sell you 100 shares at the strike ($75) until expiry. You collect the premium now and set aside the full $7,500 in cash. If CRWV stays above $75, you keep the premium. If it closes below $75 at expiry, you may be assigned and buy the shares at $75. The premium you collected lowers your real cost to $72.29 a share.

Why this stock, why now
Technicals. RSI(14) is 51.1, which is neutral. The price of $87.62 sits above the 20-day average ($86.09) and the 50-day average ($85.22) but below the 200-day ($92.17). Volume through 1:33 PM was 21.5 million shares, or 0.80× the 20-day average of 27.1 million for a full day. The nearest support under the strike is the Sep 17 low of $78.27. Below that come the late-July closes near $72–$74, and the Jul 29 closing low was $60.82. In plain terms: the stock has steadied after a hard September drop, but the long-term trend is still down, so we sell well below the recent floor.
Valuation. CoreWeave loses money on a GAAP basis, so price-to-sales is the more useful yardstick. It trades at about 2.4× forward sales, against 9.2× for Nebius (NBIS) and 4.5× for Oracle (ORCL), per stockanalysis.com today. Growth is real. Q2 revenue was $2.58 billion, up 112% from a year earlier, and the contract backlog was about $104 billion at June 30. The catch is debt: about $51.6 billion. In plain terms: the stock looks cheap against its sales because investors are charging for the borrowing behind that growth.
Income. Cboe's 30-day implied volatility was 72.8% at the Sep 22 close, and our $75 put prices at about 72.5%. That is below the stock's 60-day realized volatility of 104.3% and about level with the 20-day realized 70.7%. In plain terms: the premium is big because the stock really moves this much. It is not an overpriced fear premium.
Calendar. Next earnings are estimated for Nov 9 after the close (Nasdaq/Zacks, not yet confirmed by CoreWeave). That is after this Oct 30 expiry. Inside the window: the August PCE inflation report and the third Q2 GDP estimate on Sep 30, and the FOMC meeting on Oct 27–28. No dividend. In plain terms: no earnings report inside the trade, but a Fed meeting lands two days before expiry.
News this week. On Sep 18 CoreWeave priced an upsized $3.7 billion convertible note (2.875%, due 2033, conversion near $97.85), later reported at $4.2 billion. UBS started coverage at Buy with a $120 target on Sep 22. Rothschild & Co Redburn started at Sell with a $54 target on Sep 21. The analysts are split, which is what a 72% implied volatility looks like.
The exit plan
- Take profit: buy the put back at $1.09–$1.36, which keeps 50–60% of the $2.715 credit.
- Time exit: if the put is still open with 14–21 days left (Oct 9–16), close or reassess. The last weeks carry the most price risk for the least premium.
- Roll trigger: a daily close below $78.27 (the Sep 17 low). Consider rolling down and out to a later expiry for a net credit. If that is not possible, close.
- If assigned: you own 100 shares at an effective $72.29. Sell covered calls at strikes at or above that cost, and let the wheel turn.
Invalidation
The idea is off if CRWV closes below $78.27 before you enter, if CoreWeave moves its earnings date inside the Oct 30 window, or if new financing news (another debt raise or a lender issue) hits. At that point the premium no longer pays for the risk.
What could go wrong
- Financing and leverage. With about $51.6 billion of debt and a fresh $4.2 billion convertible, any sign of tighter credit can hit the stock fast. It fell 25% from Aug 17 to Sep 17.
- AI spending mood swings. CRWV trades on the AI capex story. A cautious comment from a hyperscaler or a chip-maker can move it 10% in a day, regardless of CoreWeave's own numbers.
- Fills and delayed data. The spread is 7.0% of mid, close to our 8% limit, and all prices here are delayed. Your fill may be worse than $2.70.
Beginner corner
Delta 0.21 is not a promise. It means the option moves about 21 cents for each $1 in the stock, and it is a rough guide to the chance of finishing in the money. 35.7% annualized is not a yearly return. It is 3.62% in 37 days scaled to a year, which you only earn if every month goes this well. Size for assignment: only sell a put on a stock you would be fine owning at $72.29.
How the screen ranked 15 watchlist names
We screened 15 names (Eddie's watchlist minus the tickers featured in the last 10 tips) for 30–45 day puts in an RSI-based delta band. The rules: open interest ≥ 500, spread ≤ 8% of mid, annualized return ≥ 12%, and breakeven at least 5% below spot. Cboe's delayed feed had not refreshed today, so prices come from Nasdaq's delayed chain at about 1:27–1:33 PM ET. We computed delta and IV ourselves with Black-Scholes and a 4.03% T-bill rate.

Meta's $680 put after an 11% Muse rally: 29.7% annualized, earnings inside
Meta's AI-app rally has lifted put premiums: the Oct 30 $680 put paid $20.48 at the Sept 22 close, 29.7% annualized with an 11% cushion. The catch is an earnings report that likely lands before expiry.

Meta's post-Muse rally: a $700 put pays $15.85, but mind the $680 gap
META is up about 30% since Aug 31 on AI-agent hype. The Oct 23 $700 put pays $15.85 (27.55% annualized) with a $684.15 breakeven, and it expires before earnings. Connect tonight is the main risk.

Theta Is Not a Daily Paycheck
Time decay can help a short put while its seller still loses money. A small worked example separates theta’s theoretical effect from changing option values, cash received and assignment risk.
