No qualifying cash-secured put emerged from 15 eligible watchlist names. The screen checked 67 puts inside the required delta bands. This edition contains rejected examples, with no selected contract or entry range.
The setup in 30 seconds
The premium is there. The combination of premium and tradable liquidity is missing. Two screens reached the same conclusion: none of the eligible names cleared every filter together.
The final screen was collected at 09:53 ET on October 2. Cboe feed timestamps span 09:01–09:52 ET, so these are delayed, non-simultaneous observations. The underlying trade behind the $GOOGL quote is stamped 09:36:05 ET. History-based indicators use completed sessions through October 1.
What a cash-secured put actually means
A put seller accepts an obligation to buy 100 shares at the strike if assigned. Cash collateral is normally strike × 100 for one standard contract. The premium lowers the effective purchase cost, but does not protect against a large stock decline.
The full screen keeps the failed trades visible
Every row shows one representative miss within its RSI-based delta band. All qualifying expiries and strikes returned by the feed were checked, not just the displayed rows. Expiries are in 2026. Midpoints are per share; annualized figures are simple comparisons before fees, taxes, assignment and execution costs.

The RSI rule assigns delta 0.15–0.20 below RSI 40, 0.20–0.25 between 40 and 60, and 0.25–0.30 above 60. Each candidate also needs at least 500 open contracts, a spread no wider than 8% of mid, at least 12% simple annualized yield, and a breakeven at least 5% below spot.
$GOOGL shows why a good yield is only one gate
The November 6 $320 put (GOOGL261106P00320000) has 35 days to expiry and delta 0.2411. Its bid and ask are $5.25 and $5.80. The $5.525 midpoint implies $552.50 per contract against $32,000 of strike cash.
That equals 1.73% over 35 days, or 18.01% simple annualized. Its midpoint breakeven is $314.475, 8.25% below the $342.75 snapshot. Open interest of 590 clears the minimum. The $0.55 bid/ask gap still consumes 9.95% of mid, above the 8% ceiling.
A midpoint is arithmetic, not a promised fill. A seller could receive less credit than the table implies, and a later exit could encounter another wide spread. In plain terms: the attractive annualized number cannot repair the failed spread test.
A tight spread cannot replace open interest
$HOOD's November 6 $106 put has a 5.13% spread, but only 10 open contracts. $META's November 6 $685 put is tighter at 3.10%, with only 38 open contracts. $MRVL's November 6 $255 put is just inside the spread ceiling at 7.96%, but open interest is 46.
$MSFT illustrates the opposite problem. Its November 6 $495 put has 2,531 open contracts and 22.81% simple annualized yield. Its $9.80 / $11.85 market leaves a 18.94% spread. In plain terms: open interest and spread are separate requirements, and both must pass.
What a later screen would have to establish
- Freshness: rebuild the complete chain in a broker before treating any displayed premium as executable. $CRDO still carries a pre-open 09:01 ET feed snapshot.
- Liquidity: a later candidate needs both open interest ≥500 and spread ≤8% of mid, in the correct delta band and 30–45-day window.
- Calendar: only after a candidate passes can earnings, dividends and macro events support a complete setup. No passing candidate reached that stage today.
- Timing: this morning slot ends at 10:30 ET. Any idea evaluated after that window would need fresh pricing at the next open.
What could go wrong even with patience
- Chasing the largest annualized figure can hide a costly entry and exit. The comparison assumes the full midpoint credit is retained through expiry.
- Moving outside the delta band to find busier strikes changes the risk profile. It would require a different screen, not a quiet exception.
- Treating delayed data as live can erase the apparent cushion. A new stock price and a new option quote belong in the same rebuilt calculation.
Beginner corner: the annualized number is not a forecast
The formula is midpoint ÷ strike × 365 ÷ days to expiry. It scales one holding-period premium for comparison; it does not assume guaranteed reinvestment or repeated fills. The spread formula is (ask − bid) ÷ midpoint. Open interest counts outstanding contracts at that strike and expiry, not today's traded volume.
For a failed candidate, there is no take-profit price, roll trigger or assignment plan to endorse. Those details belong to a verified setup. Keeping them blank is more useful than dressing a near miss as a complete trade.
This edition fits readers who want to understand why premium alone does not qualify a wheel setup. Anyone seeking an executable trade needs a fresh candidate that passes every gate; today's screen supplies none.
