Nasdaq-100 futures slipped 0.23%, S&P 500 futures eased 0.08%, and Dow futures added 0.09%. Asian benchmarks finished higher, while early Europe was mixed. Delayed cross-asset snapshot near 04:00 ET on August 26, 2026.

The overnight pattern was not a simple risk-on or risk-off signal. Japan's Nikkei 225 closed up 0.62%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.54%, and the Shanghai Composite rose 0.59%. The Euro Stoxx 50 was only 0.08% higher in early trade. In the United States, the small Nasdaq-100 decline alongside a modest Dow gain suggested caution in growth shares rather than broad index stress ahead of the data and the day's largest technology earnings event.

Official Treasury data put the August 25 par yields at 4.17% for two years and 4.64% for ten years. Near 04:00 ET, the U.S. Dollar Index was little changed around 98.95. December gold traded near $4,685, while the official Cboe VIX close for August 25 was 15.45. The sharper move was oil: October WTI's decline to $79.88 can affect the opening tone in energy shares and inflation-sensitive assets, but one overnight move does not establish a durable trend.

Today's macro calendar

Three federal releases arrive together at 08:30 ET. The Bureau of Economic Analysis is scheduled to publish the second estimate of second-quarter 2026 GDP and corporate profits, plus July personal income and outlays. The Census Bureau is scheduled to release July durable-goods orders at the same time. Growth revisions, household income and spending, price details, and business-equipment demand can point in different directions, so the combined report matters more than any isolated headline.

A crowded 08:30 ET window

Watch the GDP revision, personal income and spending, and durable-goods details together. A stronger growth number can coexist with softer household demand or uneven capital spending, which may produce a two-way reaction in yields and index futures.

Your tickers

NVDA — fiscal Q2 FY27 results today: NVIDIA's investor calendar schedules the webcast for August 26 at 2:00 p.m. PT. This is the day's main company event for the watchlist because its data-centre revenue, forward outlook, accelerator supply and deployment commentary can influence expectations across semiconductors, networking, servers and AI-infrastructure customers. The pre-market dip in Nasdaq-100 futures occurs before the release and says nothing about the result itself.

AMZN — Mechanical Turk closure dated: Amazon's official Mechanical Turk page says the service will permanently close on September 30, 2026, and directs Workers and Requesters to a transition FAQ. Mechanical Turk connects organizations with an on-demand human workforce for small tasks. The announcement is a concrete product sunset, but its scale should not be confused with a change to Amazon's core retail or cloud-computing operations.

What to watch today

  • 08:30 ET data: compare the GDP revision, personal income and outlays, and durable-goods details rather than trading one headline in isolation.
  • Treasury response: use 4.17% at two years and 4.64% at ten years as Tuesday's official completed-session references.
  • Oil and energy breadth: test whether WTI's 3.01% overnight decline carries into integrated producers, services and inflation expectations.
  • Technology breadth after 09:30 ET: distinguish a broad semiconductor move from company-specific positioning before NVIDIA's event.
  • NVIDIA at 2:00 p.m. PT: focus on reported data-centre demand, supply, deployment timing and guidance after the release—not pre-event speculation.

The setup is balanced rather than directional: Asia finished higher, U.S. futures were split, Treasury yields remain elevated, and oil weakened sharply before a busy data window. NVIDIA's scheduled report is the clearest single-stock catalyst; Amazon's Mechanical Turk closure is a narrower operational update.
