Technology led a broad rebound

U.S. stocks finished Tuesday, August 25, 2026 higher across the three headline indexes. The S&P 500 added 24.42 points, or 0.32%, to 7,677.28. The Nasdaq-100 rose 186.03 points, or 0.64%, to 29,209.23, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 160 points, or 0.30%, to 53,577. The Nasdaq-100’s larger percentage advance put technology-heavy shares in the lead, but the positive finishes for the S&P 500 and Dow show that the rebound was not confined to one benchmark.

Volatility and Treasury yields moved lower

The Cboe VIX closed at 15.45, down 0.40 point, or 2.52%, from 15.85 on August 24. The U.S. Treasury’s daily par-yield curve placed the 2-year yield at 4.17%, seven basis points below Monday, and the 10-year yield at 4.64%, six basis points lower. The combination of higher equity indexes, a lower volatility gauge and lower benchmark yields describes a calmer close than Monday’s, without establishing that the same relationship will persist after the next opening bell.

Wheel lens

A VIX close of 15.45 summarizes expected S&P 500 volatility over roughly 30 days; it is not an executable option quote for HOOD or BE. A contract-level review still needs the exact expiry and strike, bid and ask, open interest, implied volatility, event calendar, full cash or share obligation, and assignment tolerance.

Robinhood and Bloom Energy outpaced the indexes

Within YieldCove’s live watchlist, Robinhood Markets (HOOD) closed at $112.09, up $8.47, or 8.17%, from $103.62. Bloom Energy (BE) finished at $217.45, up $13.43, or 6.58%, from $204.02. Cboe’s delayed closing quotes and Nasdaq’s stock screener matched on both regular-session closes and dollar moves. Those sources verify the size of each move; closing data alone do not prove why every buyer or seller acted.

Two wheel-relevant watchlist closes

Large one-day gains can quickly change option moneyness. An existing covered-call strike can move closer to the stock price or farther in the money, while an existing cash-secured put can gain price cushion. Neither stock close reveals the next session’s option spread, skew, contract-specific implied volatility or executable premium. Option premiums are quoted per share, one standard contract normally represents 100 shares, and the complete collateral or delivery obligation matters more than the percentage move by itself.

What this close establishes

August 25 ended with all three headline indexes higher, the Nasdaq-100 leading, VIX lower and the 2-year and 10-year Treasury yields below Monday’s levels. HOOD and BE were the two largest verified movers among the current watchlist names captured in the closing feeds. These dated values are reference points rather than an order instruction: contract liquidity, company events and the next live quote can materially change the wheel context even when the verified stock closes remain fixed.

Bottom line

The close confirms a technology-led rebound alongside lower volatility and yields, with HOOD and BE notably stronger than the indexes. It does not identify a favourable strike, premium or trade. This market wrap is educational information only, not personalized financial advice or an order instruction.
