The separate 31 July Morning Read covers futures, rates and the 08:30 ET calendar. This brief stays with individual stocks and uses delayed pre-market quotes captured between 05:36 and 05:37 ET.

Delayed pre-market snapshot

At the quote cut, RBLX was -17.3% at $40.24, AMZN was +12.1% at $264.05, and AAPL was -7.2% at $309.50. Nasdaq prices were checked against TradingView; FMP prints independently corroborated all three directions and were within $0.41 of the displayed prices.

RBLX: -17.3% as bookings expose a monetization gap

Roblox reported Q2 revenue of $1.5 billion, up 36% year over year. Operating cash flow rose 60% to $318 million, and free cash flow increased 66% to $294 million. The market focused elsewhere: bookings growth was 8%, at the low end of guidance. Roblox said per-hour monetization declined, especially among younger users in the United States and Canada, as engagement shifted from highly monetized viral games to newer and evergreen titles.

RBLX options do not trade pre-market. A post-results volatility collapse can occur while the shares gap sharply, so yesterday's option marks are stale; the exact contract, open interest, volume and bid-ask spread need a fresh check after 09:30 ET.

The objective opening references are the $48.67 prior close and the delayed $40.24 pre-market print. Watch whether the first regular-session auction confirms the bookings concern or treats it as a mix issue that can recover. The core risk is that longer engagement fails to translate into spending quickly enough. Gaming and user-generated-content peers may move in sympathy, but Roblox's recommendation system and younger-user mix make the catalyst company-specific.

AMZN: +12.1% as AWS growth outruns the spending debate

Amazon's Q2 net sales increased 20% to $200.6 billion, while operating income climbed 43% to $27.5 billion. AWS sales rose 37% to $42.2 billion, the segment's fastest growth in 18 quarters. CNBC reported that management raised expected 2026 capital spending to $220 billion, from $200 billion, because of AI demand and higher memory costs. The positive gap says investors initially rewarded cloud acceleration despite the heavier investment bill.

AMZN's earnings event is over, but the new distribution is wide: cloud growth improved while spending rose. Listed options reopen with the cash session, and an IV drop does not guarantee narrow spreads or remove gap risk.

The first price references are the $235.50 prior close and the delayed $264.05 pre-market print. Watch whether the opening gap holds as investors weigh AWS demand against a trailing-12-month free-cash-flow outflow of $7.6 billion, driven mainly by property-and-equipment investment. Amazon also guided Q3 sales to $197.0–$202.0 billion and operating income to $22.5–$26.5 billion. The risk is that capacity spending rises faster than durable cash returns.

AAPL: -7.2% as guidance and supply constraints offset records

Apple reported fiscal-Q3 revenue of $109.4 billion, up 16%, with gross margin of 50.1% and diluted EPS of $2.02, up 29%. Two favourable items matter: tariff refunds added about 2 percentage points to gross margin and $0.11 to EPS. Yahoo Finance reported an autumn-quarter sales-growth outlook of 9%–11%, with its midpoint below the cited analyst consensus, alongside memory supply constraints and slower Greater China sales than expected.

Wheel-seller lens

The earnings binary has passed, but the outlook and component-cost questions remain live. Rebuild AAPL's post-open chain rather than treating the overnight move or yesterday's implied volatility as an executable setup.

The immediate references are the $333.43 prior close and the delayed $309.50 pre-market price. Watch whether investors separate record reported growth from the refund benefit and the softer outlook. The main risk is that memory costs and supply limits constrain high-margin product availability while the China comparison stays demanding. Suppliers may react, but no peer move by itself proves the same earnings exposure.

Also on the radar

  • RDDT -8.5% at $162.95: Q2 revenue rose 61% to $805 million, but CNBC reported that choppy search referrals overshadowed the beat; it stayed on radar to preserve story variety.
  • AXTI +27.3% at $59.74: a secondary-source earnings recap showed a Q2 beat, but the full issuer evidence bundle was not completed for this brief, so the name was not promoted.
  • NBIS +9.4% at $206.20: the move tracked the AI-infrastructure bid, but no separate same-morning company catalyst cleared the feature bar.
  • MRVL +8.9% at $199.68: the stock joined the data-centre sympathy move; it remains a read-through, not a verified independent story.

What to watch today

  • 09:30 ET: compare the opening auction with each delayed pre-market print; regular liquidity can reset a thin overnight gap quickly.
  • First 30 minutes: test whether RBLX selling remains company-specific while AMZN's cloud read-through broadens to infrastructure names.
  • After the open: rebuild the exact listed-option chain for any wheel analysis; pre-market shares do not create an executable options market.
