TFSA contribution-room calculator
Estimate room for a selected year from unused room, ordinary withdrawals and contributions across all your TFSAs.
Your inputs
Use your records across all your TFSAs, in Canadian dollars. Enter 0 when a category does not apply.
Your estimate
Enter unused room before adding back last year’s withdrawals. The worksheet adds that amount, eligible prior-year withdrawals and the selected year’s annual limit, then subtracts current contributions.
Confirm that this ordinary contribution-room worksheet fits your situation, then enter all amounts.
Current-year withdrawals restore room next year. Investment gains and losses do not create contribution room. Use issuer records; CRA figures can lag. Special distributions, transfers, non-residency and excess corrections need separate treatment.
Reference: Canada Revenue Agency — TFSA contribution room. Limits checked September 23, 2026.
Common questions
- Can I replace a withdrawal immediately?
- Only if you already have enough unused room. Ordinary withdrawals are added back on January 1 of the following year.
- Does this reconstruct my lifetime eligibility?
- No. Start with unused room you have already established from your records. This worksheet does not reconstruct residency, age eligibility or past excess contributions.
