Snapshot: 10 August 2026, 03:58–04:09 ET. U.S. index futures opened the week mixed but tilted toward technology: S&P 500 futures added 0.16%, Nasdaq-100 futures gained 0.41%, and Dow futures slipped 0.04%. Japan led a firmer Asian session, while a quiet Monday U.S. data calendar put more attention on Wednesday's inflation report and on a scheduled clinical-trial update from AbCellera before the cash open.
Macro overnight
| Region | Index | Level | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Japan | Nikkei 225 | 66,970.22 | +2.08% |
| Hong Kong | Hang Seng | about 25,934 | Different prior closes |
| China | Shanghai Composite | 3,966.594 | +0.67% |
| Euro area | Euro Stoxx 50 | about 6,532 | +0.13% to +0.14% |
| United Kingdom | FTSE 100 | about 10,886 | Different prior closes |
| Germany | DAX | about 26,366 | Different prior closes |
Asia's strongest verified move was Japan: the Nikkei 225 closed at 66,970.22, up 2.08%. Shanghai added 0.67% to 3,966.594. The two feeds placed the Hang Seng near 25,934, but their different prior closes produced gains of 1.05% and 1.58%. The level is therefore cleaner evidence than choosing one percentage without explaining the baseline conflict.
Europe was modestly firmer at the source timestamps. The Euro Stoxx 50 was near 6,532, up 0.13% to 0.14% across the two feeds. The FTSE 100 was near 10,886 and the DAX near 26,366, but their reported percentage changes differed because the feeds used different prior closes. That makes the direction and level more reliable than a single forced percentage for those two indexes.
Cross-assets did not show a large Monday shock. September WTI traded between $78.27 and $78.33, up 0.12% to 0.19%. December gold was $4,415.00, up 0.35%, and the U.S. Dollar Index was near 99.63, up 0.09% to 0.10%. Official Treasury data for the 7 August close showed 4.19% at 2 years and 4.65% at 10 years, a positive 46-basis-point slope. Cboe's delayed feed placed the VIX at 15.46 at the Friday close, 3.76% above 14.90 one session earlier.
The official U.S. calendar is light today. The BLS schedule lists no release for 10 August; July CPI and real earnings are due 12 August at 08:30 ET, followed by July PPI on 13 August at 08:30 ET. The BEA schedule lists no release today and shows its next releases on 26 August. With no Monday headline data point on those calendars, futures breadth and company-specific events carry more of the morning signal.

ABCL: AbCellera's SEC-filed announcement says it will release top-line data from the Phase 2 trial of ABCL635 before the U.S. market opens today, followed by a webcast at 07:30 ET. The approximately 80-participant, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluates whether the antibody can reduce the frequency and severity of moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms due to menopause. The announcement sets the event and trial design; it does not disclose efficacy or safety results, so no outcome is assumed here.
Keep the event separate from the result
A scheduled top-line release is verified; a positive or negative outcome is not yet verified. The useful morning checklist is the primary endpoint, treatment effect, safety profile, dose response, subgroup consistency and the company's stated next development step—not a pre-release prediction.
What to watch today
- Before 07:30 ET — ABCL635: confirm the primary source when the top-line data appear; distinguish the trial's efficacy, safety and next-step statements.
- 09:30 ET — cash-market breadth: compare the 0.16% S&P futures gain and 0.41% Nasdaq-100 rise with actual participation after the open.
- Rates: watch whether the 4.19% / 4.65% Treasury curve holds as the market looks toward CPI on 12 August at 08:30 ET.
- Volatility: Friday's VIX close was 15.46; a calm index future does not by itself confirm that option-implied risk is falling.
- Calendar coverage: direct Nasdaq earnings-calendar requests timed out, so no unsupported company earnings timetable or consensus number is included.
The Monday setup combines a technology-led futures bid, a broad Asian advance led by Japan, a quiet U.S. data day and one defined biotechnology catalyst inside the live portfolio universe. The evidence supports a watchful opening brief, not a directional promise. This article is educational information, not personalized financial advice or an order recommendation.
