Deep Dive — NBIS: AI-cloud growth under tape stress
Nebius printed $399.0 million of Q1 revenue, then its July 7 Cboe snapshot showed a 9.1347% one-session drop. For premium sellers, the payoff is separating high-growth AI-infrastructure facts from elevated IV and assignment risk.

Near annual high snapshot
Nebius is a cleaner deep-dive candidate when the tape is uncomfortable, not when the story is easy. The company’s official filings describe an Amsterdam-headquartered, Nasdaq-listed AI cloud business, and Cboe’s July 7, 2026 snapshot showed NBIS down 9.1347% with 17,160,796 shares of volume. That mix gives premium sellers a useful contrast: real revenue acceleration on one side, very high implied volatility and assignment risk on the other.
The business is not just a ticker attached to an AI theme. Nebius says its platform covers the AI workflow from data and model training to production deployment. The group also includes Avride, an autonomous-vehicle and delivery-robotics business, and TripleTen, a technology reskilling platform, while the core financial story is the AI cloud segment.
Nebius revenue jumped in Q1 2026 — company filing, USD millions

| Metric | Q1 2026 | Comparison or note |
|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $399.0M | +684% from Q1 2025 |
| Nebius AI cloud revenue | $389.7M | +841% from Q1 2025 |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $129.5M | Company non-GAAP measure; Q1 2025 was -$53.7M |
| Net income from continuing operations | $621.2M | Q1 2025 was a $104.3M loss |
| Pennsylvania AI factory site | Up to 1.2 GW | Power and land secured, according to the company |
The latest reported quarter explains why NBIS can carry unusually high option interest. For the quarter ended March 31, 2026, total revenue was $399.0 million, up 684% from $50.9 million a year earlier. Nebius AI cloud revenue was $389.7 million, up 841% from $41.4 million. The company also reported $129.5 million of adjusted EBITDA and $621.2 million of net income from continuing operations.
Management’s own roadmap is aggressive. In its shareholder letter, Nebius said it was on track for $3.0 billion to $3.4 billion of 2026 revenue and $7 billion to $9 billion of annualized run-rate revenue, with ARR defined as Nebius AI cloud revenue from the last month of the quarter multiplied by 12. That is company guidance, not a certainty.
| Date | Development | Why it matters for an options seller |
|---|---|---|
| June 8, 2026 | Nebius said it was investing approximately £1.7B in UK capacity across four sites with three NVIDIA infrastructure deployments. | Capacity growth can support the bull case, but also raises execution and capex questions |
| June 9, 2026 | Nebius announced a six-month Physical AI Living Lab for British and European robotics startups with NVIDIA tools. | Adds product ecosystem color without replacing financial risk checks |
| June 16, 2026 | Nebius completed the Eigen AI acquisition after the transaction closed on June 10, 2026. | Inference and optimization assets can change the product story |
| June 24, 2026 | Nebius AI Cloud 3.6 added Nebius Echo, governance improvements, enhanced storage, Builder Program preview and certifications. | Product cadence is active; customer adoption still needs to show up in future results |
| July 2, 2026 | Nebius said its AI Discovery Awards carried $1.4M in compute and inference credits and previewed a healthcare platform. | Healthcare AI adds vertical color, but credits are not the same as recurring revenue |

Assignment test
For a cash-secured put, the question is not whether NBIS is an exciting AI infrastructure story. The educational test is whether assigned shares would still fit the account’s single-name risk plan if high IV reflects real uncertainty rather than free premium.
The same logic applies to covered calls. A trader already long NBIS may see rich call premium, but a high-growth name with company guidance, acquisitions and infrastructure buildouts can gap through a short call when expectations reset. The mechanics are familiar; the reason to slow down is the size of the implied-volatility and event mix.
The sourced risks are concrete. Nebius’s own forward-looking statement caveat points to business plans, market opportunities, capacity buildout plans, capital expenditure requirements, financing requirements and projected financial performance. That language matters because the company is scaling large physical infrastructure while investors value future AI-cloud demand.
| Ticker | July 7 Cboe move | Plain-words note |
|---|---|---|
| TSLA | -4.1871% | Softer move; useful mainly as a high-beta tape marker rather than a standalone event. |
| MU | -4.9415% | Softer move; useful mainly as a high-beta tape marker rather than a standalone event. |
| RKLB | -11.6053% | Large one-session move; treat strike width and assignment exposure as the first screen. |
| SPCX | -7.3259% | Large one-session move; treat strike width and assignment exposure as the first screen. |
| TSLL | -8.6449% | Large one-session move; treat strike width and assignment exposure as the first screen. |
| DRAM | -6.8823% | Large one-session move; treat strike width and assignment exposure as the first screen. |
| PLTR | +1.3619% | Positive but quieter move; no company catalyst is needed to make the row useful for correlation checks. |
| NVDA | +0.7008% | Positive but quieter move; no company catalyst is needed to make the row useful for correlation checks. |
| NVDL | +1.3144% | Positive but quieter move; no company catalyst is needed to make the row useful for correlation checks. |
| AMKR | -6.9646% | Large one-session move; treat strike width and assignment exposure as the first screen. |
| HPE | +0.7361% | Positive but quieter move; no company catalyst is needed to make the row useful for correlation checks. |
Next checkpoints are straightforward and dated. Watch future company filings for any announced second-quarter results date, track whether the UK and Pennsylvania capacity plans convert into revenue-bearing deployments, and treat any new Cboe IV30 reading against the annual range before comparing option credits across expirations.
