Alibaba, On and Vicor rise on distinct growth stories before the opening bell. For option sellers, future capacity, brand expansion and royalty income carry different risks.

Alibaba’s infrastructure ambition, On’s financial targets and Vicor’s licensing income bring different growth risks into focus. Pre-market trading precedes the regular session, when thin liquidity can exaggerate moves.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| $BABA | USD 119.55 | +3.28% | 05:49 ET; delayed | AI infrastructure expansion |
| $ONON | USD 28.97 | +6.04% | 05:48 ET; delayed | New long-term financial ambitions |

Vicor leads the delayed gains (%)—but the drivers differ
2026-09-22: $BABA 05:49 ET, $ONON 05:48 ET, $VICR 05:45 ET; delayed change (%) versus 2026-09-21 close. [1–6]

$BABA: bigger capacity still needs a cash return
At the 2026-09-22 Apsara Conference, Alibaba set a target for operated global data-center capacity to exceed 20 GW by 2032. A gigawatt measures power capacity, not sales. It also introduced the Zhenwu V900 chip, which management says delivers three times its predecessor’s performance. That is a company performance claim, not an independent benchmark, and the capacity figure is a future target rather than installed capacity today. [7–8]

The mechanism is revenue potential and valuation: more computing supply can support more cloud usage, but construction, equipment and energy require money before that demand becomes profit. Huawei is a domestic competitor in the same infrastructure race; Nvidia is a global comparison, not a disclosed partner in this announcement. The central risk is that supply bottlenecks or weak utilization delay the return on spending. [7–8]
For option sellers: expansion is not immediate cash flow
Recent option activity supports discussing the risk, not quoting an opening premium. A cash-secured put can leave its seller owning shares after investment expectations disappoint. The option observations are from 2026-09-21 activity; no current opening spread or volatility increase is established here. [16]
The USD 115.75 prior close and USD 116.20 high from 2026-09-21 sit below the delayed USD 119.55 print at 05:49 ET on 2026-09-22. Those former reference levels are a test of whether the gap holds, not guaranteed support. Today, the useful follow-through is detail on commercialization and spending—not another headline about total capacity. [1,4,7–8]
$ONON: a new margin framework, not a new athlete signing
On’s 2026-09-22 Investor Day introduces ambitions for 2029 while reiterating its current-year outlook. Its net-sales target is at least CHF 5.6 billion; gross margin is targeted at least 65% through the period, with adjusted EBITDA margin of at least 22% by 2029. EBITDA is a profit measure before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization; the adjusted version is not net income. [9–11]

The valuation question is whether expansion beyond running can preserve premium pricing and spread overhead across more sales. Kylian Mbappé’s football partnership was announced on 2026-09-18, so it is background to today’s financial framework—not a fresh signing. Nike is the obvious competitive comparison. Jefferies cautioned that football is expensive to enter and performance credibility cannot simply be bought. [9–12]
For option sellers: the presentation can change the reaction
The webcast begins at 08:00 ET on 2026-09-22, according to On. Management’s answers matter more than celebrity appeal: football expansion must earn its costs. Recent two-sided option markets are historical, not opening quotes; no particular premium or contract is proposed. [9,17]
The USD 27.32 prior close and USD 27.86 high from 2026-09-21 frame the gap to USD 28.97 at 05:48 ET on 2026-09-22, delayed. Holding above the former high would preserve the initial price response; it would not validate the long-term targets. [2,5]
$VICR: royalties change the near-term revenue picture
Vicor raised its quarterly revenue-growth outlook on 2026-09-21, linking the revision to royalties from a recently announced non-exclusive Vertical Power Delivery license. This technology concerns getting power to demanding chips. The economic distinction matters: patent licensing can generate income even when an equipment maker buys modules from other suppliers. It is not an exclusive hardware order or evidence of a named new customer. [13–15]
2026-09-21 close
USD 223.90
2026-09-21 high
USD 232.74
The share-price mechanism is a nearer-term revenue revision rather than Alibaba’s distant capacity ambition. Power-component suppliers are the relevant peer group, but the announcement does not establish that their revenue rises with Vicor’s. The main risk is extrapolating royalty timing into a durable rate of product-demand growth. [13–15]
A strong gap can still rest on thin trading
The USD 246.52 print at 05:45 ET on 2026-09-22 is delayed. The prior high is an observable reference below that price, not a guaranteed floor; no confirmed same-day announcement hour is stated. Licensing income and recurring hardware sales need to remain separate in any reading of the outlook. [3,6,13]

- $INTC: -0.50% at 05:48 ET on 2026-09-22, delayed; a modest pullback does not by itself establish a new company catalyst. [18]
- $GRAB: +5.84% at 05:49 ET on 2026-09-22, delayed; its sub-USD 5 price warrants extra caution about sharp reversals. [19]
